1 box yellow or lemon cake mix
2 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
1 1/2 sticks butter melted
1 egg slightly beaten
12 ouncejar jam or preserves (raspberry,peach,apricot)
1 tablespoon water
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 9"x13" metal pan. Combine dry cake mix and oats. Add melted butter & egg and stir until crumbly. Press 1/2 of crumb mixture firmly into pan. Combine jam and water. Spread over crumbs. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over jam. Pat firmly. Bake 18-23 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
Optional: Drizzle with mixture of powdered sugar, water and a drop of almond or vanilla.
